WildQuest: Swimming with the Dolphins

Welcome to WildQuest and The Human-Dolphin Connection. This is a fantastic opportunity for those who wish to experience the ultimate Human-Dolphin Connection with the best conditions in the world.

We have been connecting and swimming with wild dolphins here in the warm Caribbean ocean since 1995. Our intention is always of minimal intrusion, and our dolphin swims are conducted with respect and awareness.

Dolphins have been swimming freely in the world’s oceans since the beginning of recorded history. People from many countries have met and interacted with them.

Many people have experienced that contact with these sentient beings has therapeutic effects on our physiology and our spiritual/emotional state. When they interact with humans in their native environment, dolphins seem to revel in obvious joy. Swimmers often report a feeling of deep relaxation, even bliss. Dolphins emit high frequency sonar which we hear as a series of clicks and whistles. The dolphin’s ability to induce this euphoric state in us is most apparent when these sounds are transmitted to us through water.

We extend an invitation to you to come and connect with these magnificent beings in their natural habitat. The exquisite beauty and the joy they bring will expand all that you feel is good and well within you, enhancing your capacity for living your life to the fullest. It is quite a privilege to share and witness such profound events. We accompany our guests on all the excursions to visit the dolphin pods and personally support and facilitate the connection. My dream is to make this experience available to as many people as I possibly can.

About Dolphin Swim Programs

WildQuest’s Human-Dolphin Connection Program offers you a group retreat experience shared intimately with a small number of like-hearted souls, letting go and relaxing, whilst also connecting on a daily basis with wild, free Atlantic Spotted and Bottlenose Dolphins.

On your retreat you’ll be joined on average by 17 fellow adventurers, and it’s most likely that you will make many deep and lasting friendships. As you experience the vastness of the ocean and sky in its timelessness and simplicity, you’ll feel nurtured and supported

– and thus gain deeper access to your inner world.

Every summer since 1995 our retreat participants have shared many wonderful experiences whilst swimming with these friendly Atlantic Spotted and Bottlenose dolphins – and the ocean is so warm and clear!

Please note: The Bahamas are an independent country and you have to have a valid passport to enter. Visas are not required for the Bahamas for most people. You can check with the Bahamian Consulate, your travel agent or www.bahamas.com to see if you require a visa. Please also check if you need a visa to enter the US.

The WildQuest Retreat is situated in the friendly little fishing village of Porgy Bay. Light, airy and spacious, with its own bay-side terrace and mooring, it provides the ideal environment to relax and chill out after a day on the ocean. Close to the village centre (which is typically ‘Caribbean funky’), the WildQuest Retreat is also just 200 yards from a beautiful beach.

The rooms, just a few steps from the water, are clean and with modern furnishings. Previous visitors have said they found the rooms ‘comfortably functional, rather than luxurious’, but that has often suited their taste – and fits well with the spirit of a WildQuest Retreat. Certainly we’ve had many compliments.

All rooms are non-smoking, with air-conditioning and a small fridge, most with private bath. In the main house we have our dining room, and also our beautiful meditation/yoga practice room. From our terrace as well as from our bay-side rooms, the sunrise views over the bay are spectacular. The number of bay-side rooms is limited and they are available as an upgrade. Wouldn’t you love to wake up with the sun rising over the bay?

The price per person of our dolphin swim retreats is based on double occupancy of each room, i.e., sharing a room with a partner, friend or another like-hearted participant. If you are bringing your family for one of our special Family Programs, then we will be happy to discuss your specific needs. .

There are also some private single rooms available, if you prefer not to share.

We provide simple, excellent, tasty, wholesome meals for you

Three nourishing meals are provided each day, with lunch usually taken onboard the boat. Our regular cuisine includes vegetarian, chicken or fish dishes, and for one evening in the week we dine out in an authentic local restaurant so that you can experience Caribbean food, culture and island music.

We have an excellent cook on our team who prepares our tasty, healthy meals, and is happy to cater for most special dietary needs. Please let us know when you make your reservation if you have any special dietary requirements.

Meals are served in the dining room in the main house, or we can enjoy our meals outside on the terrace overlooking the bay.

Please note: Shopping for groceries on Bimini is very limited. Most of our food is imported from the US. We do take care of most special dietary needs. If you need your own special favorite snack or dietary supplement, bring it with you.

Bahamas Boat Master
Please note: Our boat is registered in the USA and operates under Bahamas Charter Permit. Every year our boat undergoes the detailed inspection required to obtain the permit. We have two fully licensed captains to take care of us once on the ocean. All of our crew are trained in basic First Aid. Safety is our priority. We make sure that everyone gets familiar with the boat and safety before we leave the dock.

Our boat, DolphinQuest is a ‘Lagoon 410′ sailing catamaran, and is conveniently docked right at the WildQuest Retreat Lodge.

As a catamaran, she is very stable and doesn’t roll from side to side as easily as a mono hull boat. Nausea is very rare, even for those who are usually sensitive to sea-sickness. DolphinQuest provides a gentle introduction to the simple beauty of being out on the ocean. She is also very comfortable inside and out, with plenty of places to relax in the shade or sun.

There is a head (marine toilet) aboard and wide rear steps give easy entry in and out of the water.

When cruising out to meet the dolphins we will mostly be using the boat’s motors, which are surprisingly quiet, but when we have sufficient breeze we will simply sail along, experiencing the power of nature.

We are happy to share our sailing experiences with you.

Our vision is of minimal intrusion, and our dolphin swims are conducted with respect and awareness. We do not feed, chase or do anything that might disrupt their natural behavior. Only at the dolphins’ invitation do we interact with them.

We provide a supportive and safe space, both on the boat and on land, for the optimum Human-Dolphin Connection.

Is this adventure for you?

As we mentioned earlier, this is not a resort hotel or cruise ship type of holiday. It is a group retreat/wilderness experience program with a supportive and loving environment to connect with ourselves, each other, the dolphins and the ocean

Group participants usually help out with things like the dishes, etc. It often feels like we have become a ‘pod’ ourselves after a couple of days. It can be a very powerful, heartfelt experience. There’ll be much laughter, and maybe a few tears – plus many great new friendships. Most people have a great time during this adventure; however, it is not for everyone.
