Itinerary


​DAY 1 BANGKOK
Welcome to Bangkok – The City of Angels
Sawasdee and welcome to Bangkok – or as the locals call it, Krung Thep! This is a shortened version of the city’s full ceremonial name, which happens to be the longest city name in the world. Translated, Krung Thep means “The City of Angels.”
  • Detailed Orientation Meeting and Introduction to Thai culture, local customs, traditions, history, etiquette, language, cultural do’s and don’ts, and details on the extraordinary Thai Vegetarian Festival.
  • Join our friend and longtime resident of the city as we explore the back streets and back alleys of old Bangkok.
  • Visit the auspicious Wat Suthat and learn about traditional Thai Theravada Buddhist temple architecture and the temple’s history, which dates back over 200 years.
  • Special Vegan lunch at one of Bangkok’s most famous vegan cafes.
  • We’ll join the team at Bangkok’s best (and most famous – as well as friendly) vegan cooking class for a vegan cultural culinary experience. We will all roll up our sleeves and prepare a sumptuous Thai vegan meal under the guidance of our instructor chef. After preparing each dish, we’ll sit down to eat what we’ve just cooked. A hearty appetite is a must tonight – so be prepared to eat!

DAY 2 BANGKOK
Celebrating Thailand’s Vegetarian Festival (Tesagan Kin Jay) in Bangkok
Yesterday marked the official start of the Tesagan Kin Jay, also known as Thailand’s Vegetarian Festival. Held annually during the 9th lunar month of the Chinese calendar, the festival is deeply rooted in Chinese-Thai culture and spirituality.
  • Special vegan traditional breakfast feast to start the day.
  • Join our friend and longtime resident of Bangkok as we head out by van, then by foot, and then by boat, as we continue to explore Krung Thep, its markets, and local neighborhoods, which are important to the city’s vegetarian festival and the capital’s veggie story, which is a microcosm of the vegetarian scene in Thailand as a whole.
  • Explore Chinatown – the epicenter of the Vegetarian Festival celebration in Bangkok.
  • Enjoy lunch at Bangkok’s best veggie food court and 100% vegetarian market.
  • Put together gift baskets at an all-vegetarian mini-market for a local community we’ll be guests of later in the journey.
  • Cruise along the mighty Chao Phraya River in our boat. The Chao Phraya is commonly known as the “River of Kings”. At approximately 370 kilometers long and 150 meters wide at spots, the river, a lifeline and one of the most vital waterways for the people of central Thailand.
  • Visit the bustling bazaar of Pak Khlong Talat – Bangkok’s biggest flower market, which also has the reputation of also being the city’s best-smelling market.
  • Special vegan dinner of northeastern Thai classics such as sticky rice, som tam, and Isaan fave, larb.
  • Meet with local vegans and activists for dinner breakfast feast to start the day.

DAY 3 MAE KLONG – Traditional Thai Home along the Mae Klong River

From Bangkok to Mae Klong: Discovering Thai Culture, Cuisine, and Spirituality
  • Special vegan traditional breakfast feast to start the day.
  • Guests of an all-women Buddhist monastery and residence of the first female Theravada Buddhist monastic in Thailand.
  • Join the Bikkhunis for a special vegan lunch in the monastery dining room.
  • Visit the impressive Pra Pathom Chedi – one of the world’s largest stupas whose history dates back over 1,000 years.
  • Live Thai classical dance performance by the riverside.
  • Vegan Curry Tasting Session along the shores of the mighty Mae Klong River, where we’ll be tasting an eclectic variety of traditional Thai curries – all 100% veganized especially for us!
  • Learn to make Thailand’s famous fresh vegan spring rolls and spicy salads!

DAY 4 MAE KLONG – Traditional Thai Home along the Mae Klong River
Exploring Mae Klong: Markets, Monasteries, and Vegan Food by the River
  • Guests of teachers and students at a local educational institute for kids from economically disadvantaged families.
  • Guests of a senior Buddhist Monk at a sacred local Buddhist temple and monastery for an introduction to daily monastic life in Thailand.
  • Vipassana Meditation session.
  • Explore the river and the region’s many canals by longtail boats.
  • Guests of a local family at their riverside home for a delicious home-cooked vegan dinner.
  • Learn about Thai classical instruments from local maestros.

DAY 5 WILDLIFE RESCUE & REFUGE – Tha Mai Ruak
Volunteering at a Wildlife Rescue Center in Phetchaburi, Thailand
Today, we say farewell to the peaceful Mae Klong River and journey south to the lush countryside of Phetchaburi province, where we’ll be guests at one of Thailand’s most respected wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centers — located in Tha Mai Ruak. This important sanctuary plays a critical role in wildlife conservation in Thailand and Southeast Asia, providing refuge, medical care, and rehabilitation for animals rescued from abuse, exploitation, and illegal wildlife trafficking.​
  • Guests of an important sanctuary, shelter, and rehab program for abused and exploited animals. Learn about the important work the rescue center does and help out wherever we can.
  • Special vegan lunch and dinner at the wildlife rescue and refuge.

DAY 6 CHUMPHON
Journey to Southern Thailand: From the Gulf Coast to Chumphon
After enjoying breakfast overlooking the peaceful wildlife refuge, we’ll board our bus and begin our scenic journey south toward Southern Thailand. Today’s route takes us to the charming coastal town of Chumphon, located along the tranquil shores of the Gulf of Thailand. This lesser-known beach destination is a perfect stopover as we prepare to cross Thailand from coast to coast — from the Gulf of Thailand today to the stunning Andaman Sea tomorrow.
  • Special vegan breakfast overlooking the wildlife refuge.
  • Scenic journey south along the eastern coast of Thailand.

DAY 7 BAAN NAM KHEM – Traditional Thai Villas near the Andaman Sea
From the Gulf of Thailand to the Andaman Sea: Tropical Retreat & Vegan BBQ
Waking up to the sea breeze near the Gulf of Thailand, we’ll enjoy a delicious vegan breakfast before boarding our bus for the next leg of our journey — a scenic drive through Southern Thailand’s stunning landscapes. Today’s route takes us through limestone cliffs, lush rainforests, and rubber plantations, offering unforgettable views as we travel from coast to coast, all the way to the tranquil Andaman Sea.
  • A scenic drive from the Gulf of Thailand to the Andaman Sea, taking in stunning views of limestone karst, rolling hills and jagged mountains, rice paddies, and rubber plantations.

Discovering the Heart of the Vegetarian Festival in Phuket
Today, we travel to the epicenter of Thailand’s Tesagan Kin Jay (Vegetarian Festival) — the vibrant island of Phuket. Our journey begins in the winding historical lanes of Phuket Old Town, where colorful Sino-Portuguese shophouses and Chinese temples tell the story of the island’s rich multicultural heritage.
We’ll explore hidden back alleys and bustling streets, learning about the Chinese-Thai communities who brought the Nine Emperor Gods Festival to life — a spiritual tradition that evolved into what we now know as the Phuket Vegetarian Festival.

  • Celebrate the closing ceremonies of the Tesagan Kin Jay in the heart of it all, as the Gods are bid farewell and return to the heavens.

DAY 11 PHUKET
Andaman Sea Island Adventure & Phuket Peranakan Farewell Party
Today, we set off for a full-day adventure exploring the stunning Andaman Sea — with its crystal-clear waters, hidden coves, limestone cliffs, and tropical islands. This is your chance to experience the natural beauty of Southern Thailand by boat, both above and below the surface.
  • A full day of island hopping and snorkeling as we head out on our boat and into the warm beautifully blue waters of the Andaman Sea!
  • Delicious vegan lunch on board our boat with spectacular views of the Andaman Sea and the coast of Phuket.

DAY 12 BACK TO BANGKOK
